Most companies deliver information to the market by having news conferences, press releases, or at tech shows. Nintendo, on the other hand takes it upon them self to deliver the news “directly” to you.

For a long time the video game company known as Nintendo has dispersed information about upcoming releases and other noteworthy things through its short videos know as nintendo direct. Ever since Nintendo of Japan CEO Satoura Iwata passed in July 2015, Nintendo has seen a reduction in the amount of these programs from around eight a year to around two, so far, this entire year.

September 1 marked the third Nintendo direct of the year and it focused on the handheld console, the Nintendo 3DS. With everyone being unsure of the future of consoles with the rumored NX launching sometime next year, this direct was a breath of air into, what is one of the only handheld gaming consoles still around.

Nintendo announced a remake of the smash hit Super Mario Maker as well as Yoshi’s Wooly World. Nintendo also showed some love to indie developers announcing that “Nindies” were back for the 3DS. This allows independent developers to launch games on this great console as well as getting support from Nintendo for it.

Among the announcements they made were new games as well. Mario Party : Star Rush for the 3DS was announced alongside a new variant of 3DS featuring your favorite plumber, Mario. More information was given about the upcoming titles, Pokémon Sun and Pokémon Moon as well.

While the future of the handheld console may be uncertain, one thing is certain, Nintendo will always be about bringing the fun and joy of games “directly” to you.
