Three Trinity Valley Community College art students each won $1,000 scholarships for U.T. Tyler’s fine arts program at U.T. Tyler’s College Art Symposium and Juried Art Competition on March 24th 2017. The winners were:

Angie Weakley – Watercolor, Ecclesiastes3:1

Hannah Hagle – Graphite, Useful by Happenstance

Coty Sedlock- Acrylic, Party Animal

Coty Sedlock said, “I’m hoping to get my bachelors degree in fine art from U.T. Tyler to become either a professional artist or a teacher. The scholarship will help.”

A number of TVCC art students submitted pieces to the U.T. Tyler art competition including paintings, drawing, prints and ceramics.  Their works were judged against those from other local schools including the Tyler Junior College.  Students also attended the all-day symposium, toured the extensive facilities at U.T. Tyler and met professors, undergraduate and graduate students in the fine arts program.  One highlight of the day was a fiery live Roku pottery demonstration.

The annual art show will be April 25th-30th. More details about the show  to follow.
